My questionable past

In my younger days, I was no stranger to trouble. I broke a law or dozen myself. One year, I had managed to get my license suspended for too many speeding tickets. I kept on driving. I got busted multiple times for driving on a suspended license. With each offense, the suspension got longer and the fines higher. Yet I kept driving to work. On my third offense I had to serve three days in county jail. I kept driving. My life truly changed on the fourth offense.

An officer stopped me, ran my license and just got flat out angry mean. He puts cuffs on me. He cusses and yells. What the hell is wrong with you! Are you retarded? Do you know what is going to happen to you dumb ass?! 4th offense in Illinois is 1 year in jail and license revoked for 10 years. He asks me why I keep driving? Just to get to work and school I answer. I was taking a couple of college classes at the time too. He takes the cuffs off and continues to yell at me. Listen here you dumb fuck! Go get a work permit from the DMV. If I see your stupid ass ever again driving, I am throwing the book at you and you are going to jail. He let me park my car at a retail store to collect later. He told me to walk my stupid ass home. I said yes sir. As I turned my body to walk away and he slapped me in the back of the head and said get out of here. It was January in Illinois. More than 2 feet of snow on the ground. 10 degrees outside. I walked three miles home with snotcycles on my nose. That officer did what no judge or fines could. I didn’t drive again. I got the message. Eventually I did get a driving permit for work. I am so thankful for the abuse I got that day. That was over 20 years ago.
